In 1492 Columbus Sailed the Ocean Blue

Christopher Columbus is often described as an American hero in our history because he was the discoverer of the America's and the New World. I want you to do some research on Christopher Columbus and come to your own opinion about him, was he a hero or a person responsible for bringing slavery to the America's? Did he actually discover America? I want you to use any resource you want besides Wikipedia and also try to use as many primary sources as you can, which are first hand written accounts from Columbus himself or someone on his ship they could also be from the Native Americans. When you are finished I want you to write an argument through the comments section and tell me why you think he was a hero or not citing the evidence you found. We will continue these arguments in class

Welcome to my blog and United States history course! Let me just tell you a little about myself and than you can tell me about you through the comments section. I was born in Memphis Tennessee in 1987 and have lived in Ohio since 1989. I graduated from Ohio State University in 2010 and received my teaching license from Ashland University. I will be getting married in December to my lovely fiance Sarah. I have a dog named Bella and I really enjoy to learn as much as I can about history, I cannot get enough of it. I also love to watch college football and golf.
